Installation Guide
For over 20 years, our patented luxury wood vent covers, made of solid Pine, have been welcomed by designers, builders and homeowners. They arrive painted with a white primer so you can easily paint to match your walls or trim. Each vent includes a 3-inch (3") deep metal box that holds a 1" inch standard air filter and locks the wood vent cover in place.
HOW TO ORDER YOUR CORRECT SIZE:
Remove your current metal return air vent.
- Do not measure your current metal return air vent cover
- This will result in ordering the wrong size
Measure the inside rough opening:
- Start by measuring the width ( left to right), then the height (W x H)
- Is your opening at least 1/8” larger than the size you plan to order? Example: a 20 x 20 vent requires a rough opening of 20 1/8" x 20 1/8 " Sheet Metal Ducts tend to be too small and incompatible with our vent covers. Image attached.
Check the depth of your HVAC duct:
- Confirm you have 3-inch deep clearance inside the duct - remove the filter to check.
Review our sizes to select the correct blade/louver orientation that fits:
- Choose your size orientation - horizontal vs. vertical
Confirm fit:
- Did you order the right orientation W x H? Louvers are the width measurement.
- Is your duct opening a minimum of 1/8” larger than the size ordered?
- Do you have 3” of depth/clearance inside your duct
- Our vents have a 2 inch wide outer wood frame, similar to a "picture frame"
- Ensure there is 2" free from obstructions like baseboards, door jams or decorative trim for our picture frame casing.
- Don't order a size that is close to what you need. It won't work as this is a functional HVAC product that needs to align with your filter size or duct.

It took a little work to get the depth to fit correctly, but we managed it. Waiting for our odd hot spell to pass to get it painted. Included one before photo, and two afters. I’m sure it will look even better once it is painted. I love the more refined look of it.

I spent months searching for replacement options for my air conditioning return grills- I was so over the standard, tacky, builder grade aluminum grill and thought surely there’s other choices out there?! I was so excited when I came across Worth Home Products and found the perfect option in this limited luxury market. The air return grill covers are modern yet classic and are far from being dated or trendy. Worth Home Product customer service is top notch and they were so kind in answering all of my questions. This is a well made, high quality product and I appreciate the vast array of sizes available. Pay attention to the dimensions when ordering - the louvers can run by width or height so make sure you follow instructions for measuring. I replaced all of my air return grills with this product and will be ordering the air vent covers as soon as they are available for purchase.
